Thanks to the students at École Leila North Community School who decided to make care packages for dialysis patients and their families as part of their ‘Cool to be Kind’ project.
Knowing some students and staff who had been impacted by dialysis and kidney disease, students picked this project as a way to make a local impact. The packages are filled with activities and messages for patients to help them pass time during their four-hour dialysis treatment (done three times weekly). Students also packed items for patients’ family members and children.
Milla and Ciana helped deliver the packages which were distributed to some of the hemodialysis patients Seven Oaks General Hospital. The packages were created earlier in the school year but delivery was delayed due to COVID-19 precautions and school shutdowns. The hospital is ensuring infection and prevention control policy is followed for safe distribution of the donated items.
Thanks again to all the students who participated – we know the the SOGH patients will love the surprise.
