HSC Winnipeg has several dialysis units, a home hemodialysis training program and a kidney health clinic.

HSC Winnipeg has been offering dialysis services since 1967 – first as the Winnipeg General Hospital and later as the renamed Health Sciences Centre.

The clinic is on the fourth floor of the General Hospital. You take the “green owl” zone elevators to the fourth floor. See this hallway map for how to reach the green zone elevators. Follow the signs to find the Renal Health Clinic which shares space with Transplant Manitoba.

Parking:

There are numerous parkades including an underground parkade with an entrance at 820 Sherbrook and parkades on Emily Street, William Ave and Tecumseh Street as well as metered street parking around the HSC area. Street parking nearest to the hospital is $2 per hour.

Handi Transit:

Individuals using Handi-Transit are dropped off and picked up at Sherbrook entrance of the hospital. For assistance please call: 204-986-5722.

Phone Numbers:

The SCDU is located at the corner of Notre Dame Ave and Sherbrook St. See the bottom right of this HSC Campus Map. The entrance of the building is at the rear. At this time, SCDU has 23 dialysis chairs and operates six days per week three shifts per day.  The daily routine of the facility is:

  • The main entrance doors open from 7:30am
  • The first shift starts between 8:00 – 9:00 am
  • The second shift starts between 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
  • The evening shift starts between 18:00 – 19:00 pm

Parking:

If you are going to be receiving regular dialysis treatments at HSC’s SCDU, you can arrange parking with the Health Sciences Center Parking Department (phone number 204-787-2715). For visitors, there is the Manitoba Clinic parkade across the street as well as metered street parking around the building starting at $1-$2 per hour.

Handi Transit:

Individuals using Handi-Transit are dropped off and picked up at SCDU entrance. For assistance please call: 204-986-5722.

The CDU is located in the general hospital building on the 6th floor. You take the “green owl” zone elevators to the sixth floor. See this hallway map for how to reach the green zone elevators. Once you are off the elevator follow the signs to the dialysis unit. A waiting area is located just outside the unit in the. At this time, GB6 has 36 dialysis beds and operates six days per week three shifts per day.

The daily routine of the facility is:

  • The first shift starts between 8:00 – 9:00 am
  • The second shift starts between 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
  • The evening shift starts between 18:00 – 19:00 pm

The JM5 dialysis unit is located in the Diagnostic Centre of Excellence building on the 5th floor. With the main entrance of the Children’s Hospital closed due to COVID restrictions, the best way to get to the unit in through the 820 Sherbrook entrance. From there, take the first long hallway on your right. Proceed down that hallway and turn right where the ‘yellow elevators’ are and follow that hallway to the end which is now the Blue Dr. Goodbear area.

The elevators facing you will take you to L5. Please note – the elevators to the right WILL NOT take you to the unit. There is a second set of elevators up the small set of stairs to your right. Those elevators will also take you to the unit on the 5th floor. Below is a close up of the path but you can find the FULL hallway map here and campus map here as well.

At this time, JM5 has 22 dialysis stations and operates six days per week two shifts per day.

  • The first shift starts between 8:00 – 9:00 am
  • The second shift starts between 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Street parking nearest to the hospital is $2 per hour. *Please note COVID restrictions on visitation currently*

The Home Hemodialysis Training Unit is located on the main level of the General Hospital in room GE169A. The entrance is just off the hallway in the green zone between points A and B on this hallway map. This unit is accessed by staff and trainees only.
