The Dialysis Unit at Boundary Trails Health Centre continues to shine through its dedication to patient care and strong team spirit. Nurses regularly attend the CANNT conference, bringing back fresh ideas that enhance practice and outcomes.

A Culture of Support and Collaboration

What truly sets this unit apart is its culture. Staff share meals, swap shifts, and support one another—creating a welcoming and positive work environment. This camaraderie has led to a rare achievement: zero vacancies for years.

“I do think we have an exceptional dialysis team here.”
— Carolyn Friesen, Renal Manager

“It says something about a unit when staff are happy to come to work and willing to pick up vacant shifts to help each other out.”
— Tanya Blatz, Clinical Resource Nurse

Experience and Mentorship

Many team members bring decades of experience and are passionate about mentoring the next generation. This culture of kindness directly impacts patient care, fostering an environment where both staff and patients thrive.

Commitment to Ongoing Education

Education is a priority. Nurses actively participate in:

  • CANNT Conference
  • Provincial Renal Educator Webinars
  • Kidney Talks
  • Canadian Serious Illness Conversation Course

These learning opportunities help guide meaningful conversations with patients and support personalized care planning.

Compassionate Care in Action

Boundary Trails’ dialysis unit exemplifies what’s possible when clinical excellence meets compassionate teamwork. Their continued dedication ensures patients receive not just treatment—but care that truly makes a difference.
