Mukhtiar was diagnosed with kidney disease in 1992. In this video he talks in detail about the ups and downs that come with kidney disease and dialysis. He candidly shares his experiences with kidney failure, trying to work while on dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, in-centre hemodialysis and home hemodialysis and the ‘kidney diet’.
He also talks about coming to terms with his health, his decision to stop working because of his health and how he worried about caring for family while being sick. For people newly diagnosed or new to dialysis, Mukhtar’s story can help provide insight into aspects of treatment and how it affected his everyday life.
