St. Boniface Hospital and Manitoba Renal Program (MRP) showed off their new Peritoneal Dialysis Unit and Renal Health Clinic location today during a blessing given by the hospital’s Director of Spiritual Care and Mission, Father Jerry Ward. The new area, located in A4 West, brings together the peritoneal dialysis unit, renal health unit and a secondary hemodialysis site all into one location. Previously the units had been located in different parts of the hospital.
“It’s great to have everything integrated into one environment so we can provide the best possible care,” said Dr. Mauro Verrelli, Medical Director of MRP. Staff took tours of the new units and were treated to educational exhibits about peritoneal dialysis, vascular access and the renovation.
Dr. Michel Tétreault , President & CEO of St. Boniface Hospital was also on hand for the announcement. “When I toured the space during the renovation, I was so impressed with all the thought that went into it,” he said, noting the space is designed to provide the best possible comfort and care for patients.
Apart from this new location, St. Boniface Hospital also houses a hemodialysis unit for patients receiving in-centre dialysis.
