Servings: 10 (1/4 cup each)
Ingredients:
2 canned chickpeas (preferably low salt)
1/3 cup olive oil
1 lemon, juiced
1 teaspoon salt-free lemon pepper seasoning
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions
- Drain and rinse the chickpeas and place in a blender or food processor.
- Optional: Put aside 1 tablespoon of olive oil to drizzle on to hummus once made.
- Add olive oil, juice from the lemon, lemon pepper seasoning and garlic powder to the chickpeas.
- Blend or process until smooth.
- Serve hummus with cut up vegetables, cut up pita bread, low salt crackers, or use it as a spread for in a sandwich or wrap.
Notes: Other herbs and spices can be used instead of the salt-free lemon seasoning, like cumin. Also, if desired, the garlic powder can be replaced with a 1 garlic clove minced.
