Hummus in a bowl

Servings: 10 (1/4 cup each)

Ingredients:
2 canned chickpeas (preferably low salt)
1/3 cup olive oil
1 lemon, juiced
1 teaspoon salt-free lemon pepper seasoning
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Directions

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas and place in a blender or food processor.
  2. Optional: Put aside 1 tablespoon of olive oil to drizzle on to hummus once made.
  3. Add olive oil, juice from the lemon, lemon pepper seasoning and garlic powder to the chickpeas.
  4. Blend or process until smooth.
  5. Serve hummus with cut up vegetables, cut up pita bread, low salt crackers, or use it as a spread for in a sandwich or wrap.

Notes: Other herbs and spices can be used instead of the salt-free lemon seasoning, like cumin. Also, if desired, the garlic powder can be replaced with a 1 garlic clove minced.
