Ingredients:
- 1 medium onion
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp cayenne powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
Directions
- Preheat oven to 450oF
- Cut onions into ¼ inch thick rings
- Stir together flour, baking powder, spices
- Whisk milk and egg to the flour mixture
- In separate bowl add panko crumbs
- Drop your onion rings into the batter, coating evenly
- Move coated rings into the bowl of panko crumbs, coating evenly
- Arrange rings on baking sheets lined with parchment paper
- Bake onion rings for 7 minutes, flip them over and bake for another 7 minutes
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce

* For a phosphorous-free baking powder, sift together 4 tbsp of cream of tartar and 2 tbsp baking soda. Store in an air tight container at room temperature. Use as 1:1 ratio of regular baking soda.
